Bhavna Venkat | Speech Language Pathologist at Gameplan HQ

Speech-Language Pathologist

Bhavna was inspired to become a Speech Pathologist because it combined her interest in how the brain works with her passion for language and communication. She holds a Master of Speech Pathology from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Psychological Science with Distinction from Deakin University.

Before becoming a Speech Pathologist, Bhavna gained experience across both youth mental health and allied health, including working as an Intake Officer at headspace and as an Allied Health Assistant supporting children with language, literacy and speech. She has since built on this experience as a Speech Pathologist, working with children and young people across speech, language, literacy, AAC and social communication. Through these experiences, Bhavna has developed a particular interest in language and literacy and enjoys helping young people build confidence in these areas.

Bhavna is passionate about providing neuroaffirming, client-centred support. She takes a creative and individualised approach to therapy, building on each young person’s strengths and interests to make sessions engaging, meaningful and relevant to their everyday lives.

Bhavna values warmth, genuineness and collaboration and is committed to building positive relationships with young people and their families. Her background in both youth mental health and speech pathology has shaped her holistic approach to supporting young people, with a strong focus on understanding the whole person and what matters to them.

Outside work, Bhavna loves watching films, trying new restaurants and wine bars, spending time with her cats, and enjoying long walks in the sun (when Melbourne allows it!).
